The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential is a paraprofessional certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). RBTs deliver direct behavior-analytic therapy under the close supervision of a BCBA or qualified RBT Supervisor. It's the most common entry point into ABA — and often the first step toward becoming a BCBA.
1Meet the eligibility requirements
To pursue RBT certification, you generally must:

2Complete the 40-hour training

5Work under supervision & maintain certification
RBTs always practice under the direction of an RBT Supervisor or Requirements Coordinator. To maintain certification, you'll meet ongoing supervision requirements, renew annually, complete a renewal competency assessment, and follow the RBT Ethics Code.
